Does the adapter need batteries?
Short answer: No. The USB2GA and USB2Lemo get all the power they need from the USB port they're plugged into, including the +12V phantom power for your headset's microphone. If your headset has ANR or Bluetooth, those features still run on the headset's own batteries.
No batteries and no wall adapter. The adapter draws power from your computer, tablet, or phone’s USB port and uses it to run the audio electronics and to generate the +12V phantom power (mic bias) that aviation headset microphones need.
About ANR and Bluetooth: the adapter doesn’t power your headset’s active noise reduction or Bluetooth. Headsets with GA dual plugs normally run ANR from their own batteries anyway. Headsets with a 6-pin Lemo plug normally get panel power from the aircraft — the USB2Lemo doesn’t provide panel power, so those features need the headset’s batteries when you use it at your desk.
